Pennsylvania Department of Health to Offer H1N1 Vaccine to Priority Populations on Nov. 20, 21 and 22

Senator Lloyd Smucker (R-Lancaster and York) announces that vaccines are available to individuals in the recommended target groups that have not had previous access to the H1N1 vaccine to take part in the Pennsylvania Department of Health's free clinics to be conducted statewide on November 20, 21 and 22.

The department asks that only individuals in the following groups attend the clinics:

  • Individuals between the ages of six months and 24 years;
  • Household contacts and caregivers for children younger than six months;
  • Pregnant women;
  • Healthcare providers and emergency medical services personnel; and
  • Individuals under 65 years of age with underlying health conditions, including asthma, diabetes, suppressed immune systems, heart disease, kidney disease, and neurocognitive and neuromuscular disorders.

"Individuals in the recommended target groups must schedule an appointment time, day and location prior to the clinic in order to receive the H1N1 vaccine. This will help ensure that the correct type and amount of vaccine is available at each location", Smucker said.  "Additionally anyone seeking vaccination should download an H1N1 vaccine consent form from www.H1N1inPA.com and prepare the form in advance for each individual scheduled to be vaccinated to help the clinics more quickly register and vaccinate people."

Clinic hours on Friday, Nov. 20 and Sunday, Nov. 22 will be 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Hours on Saturday, Nov. 21, will be 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Clinics will be held for Lancaster County at the Lancaster Public Safety Center, 101 Champ Blvd., Manheim 17545, and for York County at the Dauphin County State Health Center, 30 Kline Plaza, Harrisburg 17104.

Smucker said the fastest way to make an appointment is online at www.H1N1inPA.com under "What's Hot," 24 hours a day or by visiting Smucker's website, www.senatorsmucker.com, and clicking on the H1N1 link.  Individuals without Internet access can call 1-877-PA HEALTH (1-877-724-3258) between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., however lines are limited.

Senator Smucker represents the 13th Senatorial District, which covers central and southern Lancaster County and the boroughs of East Prospect, Hallam, Wrightsville and Yorkana, and the townships of Chanceford, Hellam, Lower Chanceford, Lower Windsor, and Springettsbury in York County.
