Historic Occasion at Millersville Borough Marked with
Signing of Vision 2020 Statement
Millersville - Community leaders met at the Borough Municipal Center to
sign the Millersville Vision 2020 statement. Senator Smucker and
Representative Scott Boyd were on hand to witness the signing and cheer on
the community as they celebrate the occasion and begin to look forward to
implementation. The Vision 2020 statement is a forward looking declaration
that sets forth a vision of what the community desires Millersville to be by
the year 2020. Members of Millersville Borough Council, Penn Manor School
District, Millersville University, Millersville Business Association and the
Millersville Ministerium signed the document.
Senator Smucker provided these remarks to the group to mark the occasion:
Thank you for inviting me to be a witness to this momentous
occasion for Millersville. I congratulate you on the adoption of a
vision statement that will guide Millersville's future.
The statement is the starting point on your journey to attaining a
shared vision for the community. It builds upon Millersville's storied
past as a traditional center of commerce, living and learning to create
a vibrant future full of potential.
While times have changed since Lancaster County and Millersville's
founding in the 18th century, the heritage of our community remains a
strong bond. Your vision embraces this unique heritage and seeks to
build upon it while simultaneously welcoming new 21st century
opportunities that will serve the community well into the future.
The inclusion of civic, business and government groups in the
development and adoption of the statement is a true testament to the
dynamic spirit of the community and a bright future for Millersville.
As you move forward, such a coalition will be the backbone of achieving
your vision.
I wish you great success as you move forward to implement the
vision signed here today. Please do not hesitate to let me know how I
can help and be a part of this exciting time for Millersville.
