November 21, 2009 – Senator Smucker helped serve breakfast at
the Robert Fulton Fire Company, located 4 miles north of the Maryland line in
Southern Lancaster County. The fire company was named after Robert Fulton who
was born in 1765 in a small stone house just north of the fire house. Robert
Fulton was an inventor and was most famous for his designing and building of the
steam ship which is hand painted on the sides of each piece of equipment the

November 20, 2009 - Senator Smucker attended an H1N1 Clinic with
PA Department of Health Secretary Everette James. The clinic dispersed the H1N1
vaccine to residents and was held at the Lancaster Public Safety Center in

November 6, 2009 – Senator Smucker presented a citation to
Providence Township Supervisor Wayne Herr at his retirement dinner. Mr. Herr is
retiring this year after serving as supervisor since 1998, an eleven year
service to the residents of Providence Township. Mr. Herr also served on the
township’s zoning board from 1979-1997, before taking the supervisory position.
His services are greatly appreciated and will be missed.

November 5, 2009 - Senator Smucker took part in a walking tour of recently
completed projects constructed by SACA. Also included in the tour was
walk-through of a site on Chester Street where SACA and LCCTC propose renovating
an abandoned warehouse and turning it into an adult education center. Senator
Smucker took the tour with Carlos Graupera, Executive Director of the Spanish
American Civic Association, and Tim Bianchi, Assistant Executive Director of

November 4, 2009 – Senator Smucker held a Town Hall Meeting for the Lakes Manor
residents of the Willow Valley Retirement Community, just South of Lancaster.
The Lakes Manor community consists of over 450 apartments and single-story
