June 24, 2010 – Senator Smucker participated in a ribbon cutting
event at The Groffs Family Funeral Homes building on Orange Street in the city
of Lancaster. With the completion of this project, over 59,000 square feet of
vegetated roof has been installed to date in the city of Lancaster. People are
coming to recognize the many benefits of green roofs. Partners in the Groffs
Family Funeral Homes project include the Lancaster County Planning Commission,
Millersville University Department of Earth Sciences, Lancaster County Housing
and Redevelopment Authority, Lancaster County Career & Technology Center,
Lancaster County Conservation District, Sierra Club, Susquehanna Sustainable
Business Network, LIVE Green and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental

June 22, 2010 – Senator Smucker greeted members of the American
Legion's Keystone Boys State program. Pennsylvania's Keystone Boys program
welcomes over 130 participants each year at Shippensburg University, free of
cost. Participants are exposed to the rights and privileges, the duties and the
responsibilities of a franchised citizen through a week-long government
simulation, which begins on the local level and builds up to the state level.
Activities include government elections, legislative sessions, court
proceedings, and law enforcement presentations. |

June 24, 2010 – Senator Smucker toured the Kauffman Gamber
Physical Therapy building on New Holland Avenue in Lancaster. Tim Kauffman
recently added 47 photovoltaic panels to the 30 panels they installed six years
ago. The solar panels produce enough electricity to power their office and heat

Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Wake Up to the Issues Forum on the State
Budget. Senator Smucker spoke of the general dynamics of the state budget
process and discussed the current budget deficit, revenue figures for the fiscal

June 10, 2010 – PSATS Unsung Hero, Don "Pap" Michael, was
presented with a senate citation by Senator Smucker at the Lower Windsor
Township Supervisors meeting. |

June 4, 2010 – Senator Smucker was the Commencement Speaker at IU 13
School-to-Work Graduation. Student speakers included Kyle Templeton, Micah
Neff, Brianna Moyer, Jordan Rhoades, Selina Allen, Jimmy Spires and Stephanie
Winders.

May 31, 2010 - Senator Smucker rode in Ken Adams' 1929 Model A
Ford in the Wrightsville Memorial Day Parade. After the parade, Senator Smucker
paid tribute to those soldiers who provided the ultimate sacrifice to preserve
our freedom at a ceremony at the Wrightsville Cemetery. The American Legion
Abel-Poff-Leithiser Post #469 organized the event.
